Border Security Force
On the first day of December, 1965 the BSF came in to existence as a unique Force- a band of committed, trained, quality men to police the borders of our country. The nucleus of fine men has grown steadily into India's premier para-military Force, dedicated to the defence and security of the Nation.
Each unit of this Force is an "India in Miniature", composed of men from the far corners of our country and with widely differing cultural and ethnic grounds. Their language, religion and customs may vary widely but they are all firmly held togather by their common objective of suarding our borders that stretch from the snowu mountains of the north to the low lands of the south, from the barren desert of Kutch to the lush forest lands of the East. This is an outstanding example of India's "Unity in Diversity".
Over the last twenty five years, the BSF has grown into a Force to reckon with, the heterogeneous character of its men imparting it clour and vitality and training and motivation fortifying its innate power and punch. The BSF has dependable men of quality and character ever dedicated to the cause of the nation. They make the BSF a versatile Force ready at a moment's notice to move to any corner of the country where services are required, sometimes to put down fissiperous forces, to help State Governments maintain law and order and to provide succor to those affected by natural calamities, in addition to their main role of guarding the borders. At all times they hold aloft and remain true to their motto, "DUTY UNTO DEATH". They count no sacrifice to great for upholding this ideal.
As the BSF marches beyond Silver Jubilee Year and into the ninteen nineties, it seems appropriate to remember their achievements and applaud the noble service rendered by the Force to the Nation.
